Hi, after visiting this site before we purchased our chickens for information, we have finally decided to become members. We just purchased 14 NH Reds that are about a 9 months old. They are so much fun. You literally just go out to the coop and hang out with them. I had chickens when I was younger but remember very little of the details. One big question we are having right now is what to feed them. As of now we have a mix of layer pellets and scratch. We have been throwing oyster shell and some grit too. Is all this OK?

Hello and :welcome
Your chickens' diet sounds fine, just be sure to keep the scratch low so they'll still get the nutrition they need from the pellets. If they've got access to the outdoors they won't need grit as they'll pick it up from the ground, but if they're inside the coop you should provide grit.
Enjoy the site. :D
