Ok I've been following gpop1 s thread on his completely awesome incubator build with the Arduino and just seeing the potential of what it can be capable of I realize I've got to go straight to the Pi.

You should consider getting LED strip lights for your egg incubating process. I've come to learn that eggs develop better in a specifying light color, just like plants. Having the right amount of each wavelength is essential in the incubating process. The light must have a lot of red and blue and smaller amounts of green and yellow. That's what I usually do with my LED lights. I got them from ukled.co.uk, by the way. I highly recommend them! I've been using them for years now, and they work wonders. If you want a pro tip, you should buy the waterproof version.
