New incubators and hatch results

Hatch update

The green incubator made by local materials showed poor results. Only 25 or 30 have hatched. The hatched chicks are week. Atleast 10 died in their shells unable to hatch. The rest of the eggs did not even budge. So the conclusion is as under.

Chinese incubator No.1 : hatch results 100%

Chinese incunator No.2 : hatch results 90%

Local made incubator : hatch results 40%

¿If you install an automatic turner in the local incubator would your result improve?

Yes definately. I will order a turner very soon. And also a good thermostat. I think today was day 21. May be a few more will hatch during the night. But chances are very less.

Great hatch! Thanks for the thread and photos. That little striped chick is cute, for sure, and very different.

If your local chickens are all mixed up and have been historically, they are likely strong, healthy, hardy chickens. I would need a warehouse for that many chickens in my part of the world.

Well thanks for the encouragement, but my local made incubator (the green one), showed poor results otherwise the hatch would have been really great. Dont know what went wrong. I forgot to turn the eggs on second day, for 24 hours I could not turn them coz My mother jad surgeory and I was with her. May be thats the reason. Next year if it gives me same result, then I am gonna fit a sub woofer in the box and turn it into a sound box. The thermostat has a variation of 0.5 degrees. For example it starts at 37 and turns off at 37.5. May be thats the fault in it

Yes the birds are hardy as they have mix genes of all breeds. The temp in summers reaches 48 degree celcius and they survive.
