Hello! I found this forum when I was looking on google for an active poulty forum.
I'm an Indian runner breeder from the Netherlands and decided to take things more seriously. There are no pedigree Indian runners here; except for those few for shows. People just breed, and breed, and breed... not keeping track of anything.
I used to be a pedigree rat breeder for the same reasons; due to bad breeding in the 80's the expected age for rats dropped from 7 to 3 years, and they allmost all died of severe cancer forms.
I would be a shame if that happened to this beautifull breed. So I'm going to try to make a difference to create my own pedigree ducks focused on health and personality, looks 3th.
My (our) flock now consists of 12 happy rascals and together with a cat we live on a tiny pigfarm from the 1800's. Their hobby's are; rolling the snackball around to get some snacks, swimming in the pond, sitting on the couch, running under the hose when I water the plants to grab water out the air like a dog, smashing my garden with their big feet, bullying our cat, picking toes, hating óne particular sunflower in the sunflowerfield for no logical reason and try to pick it to death, and racing around for no reason whatsoever.
