On July 1st I found where her nest was by the pond she had 4 eggs in it at the time. She was up to sitting on 11 eggs until they started coming up missing. She has been sitting on them all the time only leaving for short periods to eat and bathe. I am wondering when any new duckling will hatch? Will she be able to care for them and feed? They are free range all the time I just feed them. I have 1 male and 1 female.

You do know that letting her nest by the pond with out protection is asking for predation? sooner or later some thing will find her and once ducklings hatch even more so because they will peep. When she takes them into the pond will there be snapping turtles to eat them right off? They are big predators of ducklings. Any way you can build a temp shelter for her to keep her and ducklings in for a few weeks till you are sure nothing is in the pond that will eat them and also keep them all safe. I cannot imagine leaving my Runners to live out in the open at night with out shelter and protection or any of my ducks chickens or geese. Unless I had a very reliable LGD
