New Information on JM Hatchery Redbros!!

For those of you ordering, re-ordering or planning to order Redbro broilers from JM Hatchery, I have some information for you:

1) If you ordered today, the next shipping date is July 16th.

2) On July 16th, the following additional colored broilers will be available:

Le Poulet Tricolor (gold, black, grey and red feather, black tail, yellow shanks, beak and skin)
Le Poulet Redbro (dark red feather, black tail, yellow shanks, beak and skin)
Le Poulet ColorYield (red & salmon feather, white tail, yellow shanks, beak and skin)
Le Poulet Yellow (yellow & gold feather, black tail, yellow shanks, beak and skin)

Available early 2009 only, 2 additional Poulets.

Le Poulet Master Gris (Ermine’s/grey feather, yellow shanks, beak and skin)
Le Poulet Noir (black feather, black shanks and beak, very thin white skin)

The website will be updated shortly. For now, you can order Redbro's then e-mail them what color(s) you want. I'll be getting a mixed batch of 100. There will also shortly be photos on their website.

With the nice French names, I hope we can charge more per bird now.

I just had my second bird in two days.... they were both Golden Rangers, which will be the same as the Le Poulet Yellow.

I am ordering 50 this weekend along with 6 or 8 Keets. Can't wait to have them in the pasture instead of the fugly cornish crosses

It doesn't matter which breed you use. A broiler chicken will reach, say, 8 lbs after eating the same quantity of food. Just with some 'breeds' they do it more quickly and other slowly. I prefer the slow, since they have added disease resistance and vigor.

I see you're not in it for the money. So is the pay off, besides the satisfaction of doing it, that you are also getting to put up some birds for yourself at the same time as you sell some? Just trying to figure it out. I went to JM's website and after I finish these cornish x's off, I think I'd like to try some of those reds based on what you've said here. They sound like a really good type of bird to raise for our freezer.
