New item in run

Is their a way to introduce a new item such as a perch into the run without them getting scared of it?

No such worry about items......
Only issues arise, when introducing NEW CHICKEN, and these get solved in short.

Well moving slowly does help when you have stuff in your hand. After that you just have to wait for them to realize it's not from Mars...

Of course you could put it in when they are on the roost and can't see you if that's possible in your setup.

I have some pretty scaredy chicks. I just throw perches in with them and the next day they are sitting on the new item!

They’ll be fine, they love getting new things to poop, I mean climb, on

My chickens are pretty chill with stuff being tossed in the run. Concrete blocks, a flapping tarp, new netting, a power drill, no problem.

I just took a big ole branch out to run and stuck it in the mesh across a corner.
They all ran when I walked in, but with 5 minutes 3 were up on there.

Ours all seem to see anything new as a new place to poop, and are checking it out nanoseconds after we put it in lol.
