New Jersey

thanks sicilianu. The marans sound cool.
I have a chicken personality issue, though.
My hen (1 and only chicken i have) apparently is quite a chicken hater. Not to all chickens, but to small, cheeky, or otherwise hateworthy for chicken-reasons flockmembers. She was sold to me because she almost killed a barred rock. Any suggestions? My hen is 7mos old amd very friendly toward humans. Her previous owner thought she'd probably be ok with a submissive chicken.

Hi everyone! Fanwood-Scotch Plains here! Trying to make it legal to raise chickens here but raised chickens from 1999 to 2016 in Southern California with my family! In the mean time, I'm trying to do as much research as possible on different breeds, companies to get chicks from, and anything related to raising chickens here.

At this point I am most interested in raising French Marans (Black copper, birchen, wheaten), Tolbunt Polish, Spangled Orloff, Cream legbar, Blue Isbar, salmon faverolles, egyptian fayoumi and sicilian buttercup breeds. Interested in Chocolate Silver-Laced, Chocolate Golden-Laced, and Chocolate Birchin Orpingtons as well but they seem pretty rare/new.

I apologize if this has been discussed earlier in the thread but anyone know places in NJ, PA, or NY where you can buy chicks?

I am looking for everything from Feed Stores that stock chicks to Private specialty breeders in this area.
Also NJ feed stores in general (even if they don't stocks chicks) to buy food for future chickens.

So far it looks like there is a Tractor Supply in Hillsborough which is near my work!
Sicilianu, Nischwitz feed and fuel in South Plainfield is probably less than halfway to tractor supply. They have bales of hay in trailers out back for $7. And bulk seed, cracked corn, some feed. Feed in fancy little bags, and for big bags.

what hatchery does everyone buy from in here? im conflicted between the golden buffs from meyer hatchery? and the city town special from cackle hatchery

I've got an Opal Legbar pair (male and female) that's 11 weeks old that are available if anyone's interested. $50. Also an 11 week old "easter egger" (a cream legbar crossed with a bresse) pullet, $15. The male will probably be getting butchered soon if no one wants him, so if you're interested get in touch ASAP.

Have barred rock cockerel that I can not keep. Would love to see him rehome and not in a freezer. I am in Tom's river and would love to swap for another barred rock hen. Know it's a big ask but my son picked it and he is devastated that we cant keep him.

I have 2 Welsummer pullets available that were hatched 5/27/20. They have been vaccinated. Asking $12 each which is exactly what I paid for them. I am in Jackson.

Hi everyone! First post of (hopefully) many. I am new to chicken owning and unfortunately was unaware that at TSC there is a risk of getting roosters as well. Currently I have 7 birds however 2 are roosters and I am unable to keep them. I would love to find a great new home for them. They are both about 16 weeks old, great health, one is a Black Orpington and the other is a Rhode Island Red. If you would like to offer a new home or know of anyone who is looking for roosters, please let me know through a direct message or reply to this one.

I am located in the CNJ shore area however I am willing to drive to drop them off.

Thanks!
