Hi everyone. My name is Mitch. I live in Bowling Green, Ky. Home to Rand Paul and the Corvette museum sinkhole.
I've been lurking for awhile now since many of my Google searches led me here.
It's been quite awhile since we had chickens until this year. My wife got some brown layers from TSC and I got an interest in rarer types. I started with some day old silver laced and golden laced polish and also some assorted fancy bantams from a hatchery.A few months later I added some Malay and O Shamo game to my collection due to their unique look. It was fun watching the polish and bantams grow. I also got some American Bresse which I have since rehomed of most of them. I got the Malay and O shamo game from top breeders in North Carolina. Wasn't to long until the Malay cockerel got us a visit from animal control due his crowing and grouchy neighbors.
Both the Malay and O Shamo are out on my farm now and I'm getting eggs daily. I do miss the large Malay cockerel running around in the backyard and crowing.
I progressed quickly. I got 14 blue partridge brahma hatching eggs on ebay and now have 11 chicks. I had them hatched by Tim and Susie's henhouse near Franklin, but now have my own incubator with a dozen Malay eggs Im hoping to hatch.
Out of all the assorted bantams I got, the Old English game bantams were my favorite. So tiny, so peppy, so much fun to watch.
Now I'm getting into high quality seramas. Hopefully these won't bother the neighbors.
Hopefully posting here will lead to making many new chicken friends in the Bowling Green area and online.
Warm regards everyone.
