Hi - I live on a suburban block in Australia, but love to try and be self sufficient - hence having our own chickens. Love getting fresh eggs - they taste so different - and being able to share them with family, friends and neighbours...

I must admit though that I am no expert in the art of raising chickens so look forward to being able to pick the brains of enthusiasts on this site. So please bear with me if I ask some dumb questions from time to time.

Cheers - Fran :)

Hi Fran, nice to have you here! It seems there's always something new to learn about chickens and the members here are great about helping each other out. When you have questions, try the Search box (upper left, under the logo) but if you can't find what you're looking for, feel free to ask.

Thanks for joining us!

Hi :welcome Fran

Glad you could join the flock! Your sure right about home eggs tasting so much better :D What breed/s do you have? Be sure to ask all the questions you need to, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Hi Fran and welcome to BYC - great to have you onboard. Chicken keeping is not exactly rocket science, but there's always something new to learn from sharing experiences with other members.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask!

The Learning Centre is a good place to start and there's a Down Under country thread "Australia, six states and that funny little island" - maybe you may like to drop in on that thread.

All the best
