We decided that Spartacus had earned a new toy for being such a good watchdog on our camping trip a few weeks ago. I took him to a local feedstore here that has a huge selection of fun dog toys. We spent over an hour looking at different toys. He was not interested in any of them!! I was about to give up,
then I noticed a sort of barrel with lots of stuffed toys. I dug aound in there and showed some of them to Spartacus. No real interest from him, until then I found a Kitty stuffed animal.

Oh my goodness! He grabbed it out of my hand and wouldn't give it back. It was just what he wanted!

We came home and I got some photos of him with his new "Kitty Toy."

Here he is you can tell he is very happy to have it.

The next couple of photos are not for the "squeemish" (or cat lovers)

I told him he had to be nice to his new Kitty toy, and as you can see he is truly
repentant for chewing on the poor thing.

He is very nice to his toys really. He still has most the toys he has ever gotten.
And they are all in great shape.

oh my that poor kitty

I have 3 dogs 2 boxers - 1 beagle mix

my female boxer is awful to her new " babies " she kills them - she loves to pull any noise maker out of them - rip out all the stuffing - and than the toys are no longer fun to play with so she gives up and lets the other dogs have the remains lol

Spartacus is very smart. The first time he destroyed a toy, we made a big deal of it and let him see us put the toy in the trash.

From then on, he has not destroyed any of his toys. He will be five in a couple of weeks.

You are lucky. We buy stuffed animals from Goodwill so it doesn't matter if they are destroyed or not.

Being Spartacus is a 150lb beastie, we didn't want him to ever be destructive, since he has the power to destroy anything in his path if he chose to do so.

This cat is really neat, it is made to withstand lots of chewing. It is a special brand of dog toy. They have a number system as to the "strength" of the toy. It is made really tough to "kill."

I got him some toys at Costco a while back, that made real animal sounds. There was a Hedgehog, a Skunk, and a Mallard Duck. He loved them!! But... the noisemakers were a plastic disc protected only by fiberflill, needless to say I had to replace the noisemakers within a few hours! The plastic disc didn't stand up to the strength of his bite.

Too Cute! It is funny how they pick out what they like in the store. My Daisy is the same way. For Christmas she got to go pick out a toy with a gift certificate she had - she wanted a raw hide shoe and I wanted her to have the rawhide purse. (the purse had more goodies in it for the same $) Well, she ended up carrying her shoe out and I had to pay for the purse! Silly Pups!!
