So... we have 6 ducks (now 7 we adopted one yesterday but she's not with the rest).. we had an original Pekin (ms. Waddles) , 6 months old and has been laying consistently for about 3 months. We got another 5 ducks first week of June. 1 pekin, 2 buffs, 2 gold star hybrids sexed from the hatchery
(1 female rouen yesterday)we figured they should, at least the pekin start laying soon.
Well...
The last couple of days we had 2 duck eggs, obviously our waddles and some one else. Well this morning we had 3. (YAAAY!) 1 was a monster, but waddles is known to lay those every once in a awhile. We just don't know who's laying though.
Here's the problem... Gucci one of the buffs is having some problems today. I went to turn them out this morning and she looked like she was "laying" all the girls ran out and honked like they normally do, but she didn't.
I dump out all their water in the am and she's the 1st one to get the goods and the first one in as soon as the pool is filled. She eventually mosied out and got in the pool. She wouldn't lift her head and she just kind of waddled out and sat in the pool. I went back out later to do the afternoon water change and I found her making her way into the hen house.
She didn't run or honk at me when I picked her up. I checked her out and poked and proded to see if there was anything particularly bothering her or trauma and saw nothing.
I put her up alone in the duck pen and gave her some electrolytes. I'm heading out to get her some calcium Gluconate.
Is she maybe just a new layer and had a tough time? Or maybe egg bound?
Any advice is much appreciated.
