Our 2 Red Stars are about 6 months old. One hen started laying about 2.5 weeks ago and has been laying in the nest boxes every time. Until the second hen started laying 4 days ago. Now, they are both laying in the far corner of the chicken coop. Which is a serious pain, because we have 4 perfectly good nesting boxes with nice clean pine shavings yet, we have to crawl into the coop to get the eggs in the far corner. We put fake eggs(with a rock in them for weight) in all of the nesting boxes yesterday. We also turned the light on in the coop, so the corner would be bright and seem less convenient to lay in. Yet, they're still laying in the corner. Should I put today's eggs in the nesting boxes instead of the fake eggs? Thanks for your input!!
