We have 2 orpington hens that are now laying. One started on thursday and laid her third egg today and the other started today.

They are both 20 weeks old today and I have another one that I think will lay any day.

Anyways, their eggs are quite small but good taste, color and good shell. Will they get larger as they lay more? Also, the shells are a light peachy tan color. Will they get darker or do orps lay that light all of the time? Today they were fighting over the nesting box, they are so darn cute!!!

Congrats on your first eggs!
They do get bigger as they get further along.
I get a wide range of egg colors from my brahmas. Everything from dark brown to speckled tan to a few that have the color of a porcelain doll's face.

Yours will get there chickymama! I am just really happy they didn't go 30 weeks!! Although I have 10 more to wait for and one is a dark brahma that I was reading can be real slow to mature. ACK! I'll just be happy with my wonderful 2 egg layers for now.
