We have recently moved to a different location, and with it comes a new home for our chicks. I will post pictures when I am finished. It is about 95 percent complete. I just need to finish some painting and final button up. I used mostly recycled materials including an old wooden swing set to do this one. This is my second one to build. I really enjoy building and I enjoy raising chickens. My granddaughter will be an integral part of this operation. She is turning six, and is very excited about the new arrivals to come soon. Thanks for the invite here, hope to share ideas and thoughts with each of you as this work progresses.

Oh that is so great to be reading that you are shearing this experience with your granddaughter as I learned from my grandpa and I had the experience of teaching my boys and grandchildren nothing like it and don't forget to take pictures ...

Enjoy your time here and if you have questions please ask ..

Hi and welcome to BYC - congrats on your second coop build - I'm sure you ironed out any issues with your first design.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will also put you in contact with other BYC members in your area.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

It's always great to see kids involved in learning about animals...they're a natural fit and both benefit from the experience.

It's nice to have you join us!
