I would guess she's a Polish or a Polish mix. In any case, she's a beauty (I'm guessing it's a girl because you didn't mention crowing!) ! How did she come to live with you? And, what's her name?
If at all possible, it would be nice for her to have some chicken friends. In the meantime, a recent scientific study showed what chicken owners have known forever -- a mirror in with a single chicken can help it feel less lonely.

Plenty of people keep house chickens, as long as they get plenty of attention and proper diet, they can do just fine. I'd get her outside once a day to free range or take a dust bath, you can free range with her.
