Hubby and I did the BBQ tour for our honeymoon and ended up backstage at the Opry courtesy of Rep. Bob Clement. I hired his daughter to work for the FBI as a Presidential Management Fellow. Had a wonderful time! We’re in West TN close to Memphis, but we have family in Cookeville and Nashville. We’re looking for pets/egg layers. Just about 3-6 (I know we’ll want more lol) is all we’re planning for in the beginning. We are just getting our feet wet and are gonna go from there! Neighbors are close-ish, but also have chickens as well!
Coops are OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE lol! I’ve been looking all week for plans to build one that won’t cost an arm and a leg but to no avail! We are planning on Rocks, Easter Eggers, and Australorps!Welcome to the BYC flock! My advice to you is build/buy your coopto fit DOUBLE the amount of chickens you plan to start with. No matter what, you will want more! It’s called chicken math!
If you want pets with eggs, I would suggest Orpingtons, Brahmas, Sussex, Plymouth Rock, and Easter Eggers as great starter breeds!
