Hi everyone, I'm Lisa from Finger, TN, yes that's right Finger..LOL. ( I don't live in the middle of Finger 
My Husband and I moved here from Illinois in November 2014. My dream was to move to the country to get away from all the crime and nonsense from Illinois. We know own 10 acres and couldn't be happier, even our 3 dogs are happy, they don't have anything to really bark at anymore, my German Shep is the official Squirrel Sheriff around these parts.
Anyway, I have always wanted chickens, ever since I was a little girl, gathering eggs with my great grandfather, he had the Easter Eggers and I was always amazed at the colored eggs. I do plan on getting a few of them soon. For now I have 6, 5 of them were mixed pullets from tractor supply and the other is a Barred Rock, which looking at the rock now it looks to me like he may be a rooster. I will post pics and see what you all think. I am pretty sure 3 of the pullets will be RI Reds.
My chicks are about 3 weeks old and our coop is almost done. I figure in a week or two they will be ready to take over the coop. Looking forward to that, my sewing room smells like a chicken coop.
I am looking forward to getting to know you all and learn some chick tips and so on. I've read a lot on here already and learned a lot of great tips and ideas for planning our coop design.
