Hi and good morning to my fellow backyard chicken owners ( lovers! )! My name is Monica and I live in Tyler ( Lindale ) Texas. I am the proud momma to some beautiful Orpingtons, Australorp and Plymouth Rock chicks. My husband and I serve our medical community as a HEMS pilot ( retired Army pilot ) and flight nurse, and we have four grown children and one amazing 3 year old grandson. We have talked for awhile about raising backyard chickens for eggs and also for pets, but the recent pandemic really solidified our decisions and desires to make this a reality. I've done a lot of research and read a book on raising backyard chickens, as well as watched every YouTube video available, but I feel like I need the support of a community like this that I can reach out to and get some real-time advice and guidance from, as I still have so many questions! Please feel free to send me any advice that you think will be applicable for me, and I am going to start scrolling all the posts I can to gather all the information and knowledge that's already been imparted.
