What's the temperature where you are???

Already have the LJ’s - great to keep warm.

Still snowing and snow is now at the second board from the bottom of my fence (fence is about 5’ high).

Temps remain at -9C (15F), and wind is calm, snow squall is breaking up - it needs a wind of at least 27/hr.

Can’t wait to see how deep the snow is walking to the barn in the morning……
My sister in PA is saying Pittsburg is going to get hit kinda hard.
They're side by side. (Unless one spills).
And they usually don't get knocked over.

I'm at work on my break and utterly miserable. I'm sick with what I think is the flu, everything hurts but the sinus pressure and my headache are the most annoying. I'm trying to tough it out so I can leave and start my week off work early, but it is really difficult to tough it out like this.

It is currently 25°F and feels like it too with 84% humidity and a 21°F dew point with WSW winds at 1mph.

Supposed to be a mix of cloudy and sunny early on today before becoming fully cloudy in the afternoon. A few flurries or snow is possible with a high near 30°F and SW winds at 5-10mph.
Make yourself some Ginger tea.

Now see... I don't get the idea of the waterers. I was concerned last night because I had single digit temps.

When I got up this morning, the coop was 54f. To be honest I don't get the idea of adding ice to the waterers. Truthfully, I use plastic coffee cans. When I feed and water the boys and girls, the coffee cans are placed strategically so the boys and girls have clean food and water to drink. Each feed can corresponds with each water can.
Water... feed... Water... feed etc.

We have trough and large cup waterers so that when it's hot, the chickens can dip their entire beaks and waddles in the water to help them cool off. No nipple waterers for us.

They won't die without ice in the waterers when it's 83° but it's nice for them to have the cool water to dip in, and it encourages them to drink.

One of our EEs hates hot weather. She is the first to hold her wings out and pant. When that happens, it's our cue to set frozen blocks of ice in tubs all around the pens for the chickens to stand on. She gets right up on one the minute we set it down.

During the hot months we keep a chest freezer full of these ice tubs and swap them out for fresh ones several times as they melt during the day. We have lots of ways of helping the flock keep cool but the ice tubs are the most effective. Chicken life in the desert! 🌵

Awww I am sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Tis the season. Sounds like flu, my cousin’s hubby is really sick with the flu, he has been off work 3 days now.

I told her not to come visit, I don’t need that gift for Christmas!

Tylenol and Advil (you can take them together) and some nice peppermint tea with honey. That should take care of the body aches and headache, help you feel a wee bit better.

Currently:
-3C (27F) and overcast - light snow forecast overnight.

My lovely niece came over with her work truck and plowed all the snow for me. Main driveway and all the way to the barn on the back driveway - I can walk now! Instead of floundering in almost hip deep snow.

:( Right at a time of year when everyone has so much to do, too! Can you drink a hot toddy before going to bed? My grandma used to make them for us and we'd feel much better the next morning.

I will have to try that when I have some ginger tea, all I have right now is this Honey Pear tea but maybe I can try that with some additional honey.

I do have both of those but don't have any peppermint tea, just this Honey Pear tea.

I could try that but I don't think we have any whiskey right now, however we do have lots of black tea so maybe I could make something similar.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I'm just so miserable right now as I've never had sinus pressure from the flu before.
