I have been hanging around in the shadows for a couple of months now and decided to take on chickens and guineas at my place. Have yet to purchase any birds but my kids and I have managed to round up enough recycled material to build a 8'x6' coop that is about 6' tall with the only out of pocket being about $87.00 in OSB and PT lumber for the base. We still have a little work to do but here it is so far! Enjoy!
This is what we started with. A leanto that would make a better chicken house.
next, we decked it.
Frame is up! I hev never framed a building before and learned alot on this. Like how to NOT box your frame
walls and roof deck up.
Nestboxes getting started. As a side note, I am way more in to this than my wife is, so I made her shingle the roof as her contribution! She did great!haha
And here is the semi completed outside. I used old 6 inch cedar fence boards for siding to make it look like a shack. It was kinda dark when i took that shot and made it look a little creepy! I will get more pics up when I finish the place in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking.
