New Member and New Coop

Excellent! I moved down from PA in 1993 to take a teaching position in Warren County...taught at Ressie for 2 years and EWM for 1 year.

Cedar shavings removed and father-in-law has no oak available so I bought a big bag of pine shavings at Southern States for $6. Seemed pricey but it only took 1/3 of the bag to put a 1 1/'2 layer down so I'll get 3 uses out of it.

Thanks for all the advice and warm welcomes!

Very nice coop!

Love the coop! The nest boxes look very nice. Reminds me that I need to get mine made. You may have missed your calling by not being a carpenter! Nice hobby to have though, along with the chickens...

I like the way you hung the feeder/waterer. We have the same, so let me ask you: does your waterer stay level with the set up you use? (it looks like a carabiner). I need to hang ours this weekend, and I wonder if the waterer will slip to the side and spill since the handle is so broad.

SewingDiva, Would a piece of plastic pvc, cut to fit the size of the handle but only notched out where the carabiner would be work? It would keep it from moving and be easy to take down for cleaning etc.
I tried a piece of rubber insulation on part of my waterer's hose before...big mistake..they loved it! Took it off in about 30 min after I'd spent forever rigging everything up. I now use insulation INSIDE pvc so it's chickenproofed. Just a thought

The feeder is meant to be hung but the waterer was not. It did not stay level and ended up leaking and making the run wet so I took it off the chain and set it on a small feeder bucket that is about 2 inches tall to keep it off the ground.

Whew...that was a long sentence!
