Hi all, I recently inherited from my friend 4 Pekin ducks (three being female) a Cayuga female and a Muscovy. One of my Pekin went broody. At first I didn't care because she would leave them all day to forage and play but after about a week of being broody overnight she decided to stay on the nest...my wife and I haven't seen her off the nest in two weeks except when I accidentally scared her. She has a ton of eggs under her and her two sisters keep adding...apparently she's rubbing off on them because they are starting to act like her in the early stages of becoming broody. Even the Cayuga laid her very first egg since we got them a few months back! Anyway, I'm not 100% sure what to do. Hate to disturb her cus it's cold and I don't want her to leave her eggs but I also don't think she needs a million of them under her. But my biggest concern is what to do with the hatchlings if any do turn out to have been fertilized. I'm kind of tempted to let nature run it's course and leave the hatchlings with their momma but I don't want them to die from the cold or anything...suggestions???
Thanks in advance!
