Hello, Betty - I am also in Massachusetts. I am in Milton, just south of Boston. I am trying to locate other BYC members in my area, and just stumbled on you. I was also in academia, and am now retired. The treatment of adjuncts is a shame - I hope your plan works out for you!
I do not yet have chickens. I ordered day old chicks from Meyers Hatchery in Ohio to be delivered in late April: 3 Buckeye hens, 2 Golden Buff hens and 1 Mealmaker hen to be announced. I hope all will be hens, and hope to have a low mortality rate. We will see!

anywhere from 2.5 to 4.5 y.o. (however, a few I just can't bear to process, so those few live their natural lives.)
