Hi! I have had chickens for many years. Currently I have 15 hens- NJ Giants, NH Reds, Auracanas and barred rocks. They have a very large coop and outside area. Their diet is supplemented by various weeds and vegetables that they like - watermelon is a favorite.
I live in the pine barrens in NJ and have almost an acre of land. I have in addition to the chickens, 4 goats, 5 dogs and some deer mice I rescued, I have a scad of rescue cats as well.
I am a writer and my articles have appeared in Herb Quarterly and Heirloom Gardener.

Funny, I live in the woods and have seen one loose domestic bunny??? The deer mice was not supposed to be this many and now they would not know what to do outside. I did let some go and found my cat beating one up, luckily I was able to save her, I call her Tiny Tim.......They need their aquarium cleaned......we do that in the bathroom so we don't lose anyone. Some of them take peanuts right from my hand lol, yeah, I have too much time on my hands!
