In the Brooder
Hello everyone here on BackYard Chickens!
I am a long-time poultry lover who started in the hobby a little over 13 years ago when a family member gifted me some day-old bantam chicks. Since then I was hooked, learned all I could absorb, and tried my hand at some breeding. Two years ago I ran into a battle with my health and had to give it all up- but now I am back in the saddle and looking to get into the community.
I currently don't have any chickens (though I plan on getting some later this spring), but I do have eight coturnix quail chicks in the brooder. I plan on breeding two varieties of coturnix (Manchurian Golden and Tibetan) Along with two breeds of bantam (Mille Fluer d'uccle and probably BBR Old English Game Bantam, but haven't decided)
My favorite parts about raising poultry are the personalities of the birds as well as learning the genetics and watching them grow. I'm an Ecology and Biology major (pending) and the science aspect of things really interest me!
My other hobbies are mostly just different types of art, though I do mostly digital art and acrylic painting. I am also working on a business plan for a CatCafe, but at the moment it's just a distant dream.
I found the site while researching quail genetics, and thought this place was the bees knees. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new friends and making new connections along the way.
