I have never heard of this! There is very little a vet can find out by looking at them and it would probably stress them far more than needed. If you have any troubles with them, that is what we are here for!

Get them under heat, 95 degrees lowered by 5 degrees each week for 6 weeks. Keep the brooder clean, clean water and feed each day. Give them plenty of space. You can add some probiotics to their water to help boost their immune systems.

Oh, and I see you live in Alto MI...I live in Alto NM.

Puppies and kittens need a trip to the vet to get shots, etc. but, chicks don't.

Can anyone tell me the best feed for my ladies? We should be close to laying time.
Bought our chicks in March (mid) we have mixed the rest of the chick feed with actual scratch,

Welcome to BYC! If you only have pullets/hens you can feed them layer pellets or crumbles right before they start laying. Their combs/wattles will turn red and they will squat for you. Best of luck!
