howdy everyone, i live in blaine, tn, i am married to a great lady, and have 2 groovy lil girls that are 10 yrs old, they were bourn the day before my birthday:)
so now i am a new chicken owner, as it was thrust upon me at a last minutes notice. one of the in-laws, moved and was just gonna leave their chickens at the old house...thats just wrong , and i pick up all the strays anyhow.
so i have ended up with 2 roosters and 5 hens:weee
i have an old building out back where i live, nothing really in it, my neighbor had some of them green metal fence posts that he gave to me, and i am sad to say that i am broke as all get out, and am not physically able to do much, back surgery has destroyed my hard labor days

, anyways, i had enough money to buy some chicken wire, and had some leftover wood in another building, so we made a door,
my neighbor dug a trench, hammered in the posts, and we strung up the chicken wire. got a bale of straw given to me, have 4 banana boxes sitting on an old multi lvl gatorade display that broke down into 3 tables.
as far as i can tell, i have 1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte rooster, he's big, 1 Australorp rooster and 4 reds and 1 other hen that looks an awful lot like the pictures on BYC of Buff Orpington

i hammered up a 2x4 sideways as a perch. the black rooster runs around in the back yard and the other stays in the pin
if i can get my camera workin i will post some pics, after looking at some of yours on the forums... man i feel bad, but least i can feed them and house them. when i get some cash, i am gonna try to put together some nest boxes and stuff to replace the temp ones now.

glad to be member here now, and i will probly be reading for the next 3-4 days just to get up to speed, hopefully, lol

i was told the hens were molting, but that big wyandotte is kinda mean to them lil girls:( their poor lil backs are bald, well just about,

i know a long intro and i am sry , glad to be here, look forward to talkin with everyone.

from S. Florida! Thats wonderful, you "rescued" those babies! Sometimes, this is the best way to get into "the chicken thing"! Best of luck. You're gonna love it, and you're gonna love it on this forum too! So happy you joined us all!

Well at least I am not the only one that has hens with no back feathers! lol Those darn boys can be kind of aggressive at times. Hopefully they grow back before Winter:/
