new member from CA

Hi, I'm Cynthia. As of November 1, my city started allowing backyard chickens (3 to be exact). I started early and got my first two buff orpingtons about 3 weeks ago. They are now 5 weeks old. I got two barred Plymouth Rocks (I know, 1 too many for city ordinance) two weeks ago. My husband built a very nice 5 star coop and I am excited to watch the chicks grow and finally lay eggs.

When I'm not playing with the chicks, I am riding my horse, Tucker. We do lots of trail rides and perform and compete with a drill team. I have two children, one that is in law school and one that is working and living about an hour and a half from me. Both my husband and I are teachers.

I look forward to learning more about raising chickens.

Welcome to BYC. Your city only allows you to have 3 chickens, yet allows you to have a horse...

Thanks, everyone. I guess I should have clarified. I board my horse outside of city limits, about 20 minutes away. I live in the city of Sacramento.
