(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes! I just brought home week old chicks Sunday (4/25/21)

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 16 chicks

(3) What breeds do you have? Cali Tan Pullets and Rhode Island Red Straight Run

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Having my own chicks to love and nurture where I know they are living a free life without abuse.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I’m a full time stay at home mom - it’s a hobby trust me.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband inherited 80 Acres and a cabin in the woods around the time we found out we were pregnant - after clearing a lot of land (BY HAND 😭) we now have our own little sanctuary. Our daughter, Aurora Jade, is 15 months old and has lived every second in these woods. She is a true ‘woods baby’ as we call her. She loves nature and we love teaching her about how special everything is around us and how gentle to be with all of the earths creatures big and small. We have 4 rescue dogs, Shya, Anubis, Nyx and Sage. They range from 10 years to 2 years old and varying breeds. We currently house 25 exotic species of tarantulas and 2 snakes - Lemon Leopard Ball Python and Sunbeam. I worked as a Vet Assistant for 5 years and that’s what lead me to loving for such a large flock of mixed animals/reptiles/arachnids.
While my husband and I live the ‘traditional roles’ we are personally very far from that mentality. We are a team and love exploring the outdoors from the mountains to the ocean.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Everytime I google advice BYC always shows up! I figured I might as well join and stop googling just to be taken to your knowledgeable community!
