I'm a new member and new to having chickens. I have or had 13 Plymouth Rock chickens for a year. I had 12 hens and 1 rooster. Last night a bear broked down my fence and got into the coop and ate at least 1 chicken I can only find 10 hens and 1 rooster now. Going to post more in the predator and pest forum and look for advice on how to deal with the bear.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

I have a resident black bear that has been seen on my property multiple times, twice by me. I have my entire coop and run setup placed inside a 1/3 acre pen that is surrounded by poultry netting powered by a 10,000 volt charger. I have never had a problem with the bear.
