Hello fellow chicken lovers!! My husband, daughter, and I just bought our first chicks last night (3 barred rocks and 3 rhode island reds) and we are so excited! They are currently living in our spare room, cheeping up a storm and driving our Great Pyrenees crazy. I am super excited about getting into backyard chickens, and look forward to picking up information from all of you! Thanks!!!!

Hi and welcome to our flock!

So glad you could join BYC! Congratulations on the beginning of your chicken keeping adventures. Bringing home baby chicks can be so exciting (and addicting)! You picked out two very nice breeds. Both breeds have reputations for excellent egg production and good temperaments. I know that I've really enjoyed my Rhode Island Red!

Good luck with your cheepers! Welcome to our community and I hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do.

I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

Congratulations on your new chicks! Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds are both hardy, productive breeds that also tend to have good temperaments.

If you have any questions, just ask! We're all here to help. If you haven't already, I'd be sure to check out the Learning Center: Learning Center Articles

Welcome to the BYC flock, hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Please be careful with the chickens + dog. Great Pyrenees are so big, they would even damage a chick just by licking it.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. X2 on being careful with the dog as he could easily kill your chicks without even intending to. How old is your daughter? Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Good morning and welcome to BYC!
