Hi everyone!

I just joined your forum and wanted to say hi!

I do not own chickens, but a rooster joined my family about a year and a half ago (maybe 2 years now). He just wandering into my parents yard and has decided to stay.

He is a beautiful black rooster with a beautiful long curvy tail. The problem is he is lonely! lol

He does not come up to anyone, keeps his distance but knows when he is being fed. Two or 3 neighbors feed him but he stays at my parents mostly.

So we thought we should get him some friends. He hangs out with the wild female turkeys when they are around but the don't stay all year.

So, if anyone in lower MI has any females for sale, please let me know! We do not want a lot of chickens, we are thinking 2 females should keep him happy.

Of course let me know if I am wrong. We are going to build a real coop, and not just the boxy thing we made for the rooster. He only goes in that once in a while anyway so he must not like it much!

The point is we do not want him to be killed by something and we don't like to see him in the wintertime with no where to go. We are hoping females will draw him in.

And while raising and caring for the rooster and his friends we might just learn a new hobby and have some fun at it!

So if anyone in lower MI can help us, please let me know!

Wow, my first post is a long one, sorry!

Thanks,

Lisa

Howdy! I am a long way from MI.
Try Craig's list. You can always get him some roosters to tag around with. maybe they won't fight if you have no girls. I do not know.
Welcome.

Thank you for the welcomes!

He really is a pretty rooster, we've never seen one like him before. My dad thinks he is a Bantam, but we really don't know!

Not sure we want another rooster but that is a thought!

If I can learn how to post pictures, I will.

I should say we are looking for friendly females who maybe don't lay too many eggs. We know it is natural for them to lay eggs, but we do not want to sell eggs or chickens...you know what I mean?

There are instructions under "uploads" in the blue bar across the top of the page.

We live between GR and Lansing, and have a couple of low on the totem pole chickens that I'm sure would welcome getting into a smaller flock. But they're full size chix! They look pretty ratty 'cuz everyone picks on them, but they would feather up if out of the big flock.

Hello from NY! Love the rooster story.

Go to the top blue bar and click on Upload. Click on Browse to find the picture in your files/disk you want to use. Click submit. Go to the Upload page again and at the bottom right is My Uploads...click on it. Copy the img under the picture you want to use and paste it to your post. Click on preview. At the top it will show you if the picture worked...and if it did...click SUBMIT!

Hi, also from lower MI, but it is a pretty big area. Maybe give a better idea where you are located and we might be able to help you. I have some chickens for sale now. I live between Lansing and Jackson.
