Hello everyone, my name is Melinda.

I've been interested in chickens and other birds since a child, recently after having our house foreclosed and were looking for a new house, we all decided it would be nice to move out away from the town near a farm and we all had plans for getting chickens, ducks and turkeys (sadly we couldn't get a house like that) but now we've found a house that we will be moving into this year and I've recently got the interest of having some quails?

I know nearly nothing about quails and if I do get some when we move I would want some tips, advice and other things. I also plan on keeping them as pets, are they loud birds? Or are they relatively quiet? Which breed would be best?

As for housing I've heard they can be housed in aquariums? If so I used to have pet mice and a couple rats (currently have two African soft furs) and I have 6 aquariums, 3 large (one tall two long) and 3 small. Although I gotta get rid of a few.

To BYC!

Quail are quiet interesting birds to keep. Certain types of quail can be loud, although not as loud as chickens or roosters. Each species is kept a bit different and as suggested by others here, you might head over to the quail section for more info.

Great to have you aboard and enjoy BYC!
