Well, welcome to the rabbit hole! It sounds like you have the perfect setup, and I think you'll find it as fun, heartwarming and rewarding as everyone in this forum!
I would be careful to clean as much as you possibly can - lead paint fragments... remember you are going to eat these eggs... a little effort in careful cleanup and re-painting will go a long way for their health and yours -
Another thing to consider is to keep in mind a bit of predator-proofing.
