He scared the crap out of me. He popped out of the woods about 25' from where I was weeding. I didn't see him or hear him. The dogs started going nuts and I thought they were barking at the deer that visits multiple times a day. Imagine my surprise when I turned around and saw that huge bear. Neighbor estimates he was between 400 and 500 pounds.
Wow! I think that would scare the crap out of most people! No bears to worry about in our local. 😊

I've seen lots of bears up here. But mostly sows and sometimes sows with cubs. He was the first boar I've seen. That's what got my adrenaline flowing! He was much bigger than the sows.

That is something we are considering. I found the hoop coop that @Chook-A-Holic posted and we want to do something similar. Is there a way I can purchase the plans? https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/permanent-hoop-coop-guide.47818/

I opened the image in PS and upped the DPI from 72 to 100 and did not notice any distortion.
Below. Then I lowered the Brightness and it made the writing a little bolder, albeit a touch of graininess around the writing.

Here in the Appalachian mountains, bears are relatively common.
Here too. This mother came up the hill for sunflower seeds in the wild bird feeder, only to find they are now strung high in the tree. Our dogs scared her cubs up the tree. We called them in and then she got her cubs down and left.

We've never had a boar that I know of, just sows and cubs a couple of times a year.

I hope you were using a zoom lens, otherwise...😱

Yet. 😎 4 Black bears have been confirmed to have been seen in IN. One in 2015, 2016, 2018 & 2021 per Indiana DNR. Where there is one...
Seems like I heard about a few sightings. Wonder what counties? Might have to investigate that a bit. Haven`t heard about any here. Did hear a rumour several years back about a big black cat. I never heard if it was a zoo runaway or wild.
