Hi!
My husband and kids and I are very new to the world of chickens. We have an acre of land and built a cute coop and a large garden this spring. In the spring, We bought 6 chicks in the hopes to get 6 hens and ended up with 6 roosters - go figure! So we traded some and gave some away. We are left with 4 hens - a white hen 'Snowball', a black hen 'Blackie', a spotted Sussex I believe named Julie and a Barred Rock 'Minnie'. We love our girls. We just gave away our last rooster tonight as he was over mating and really aggressive with two of our hens and hurt them. So I'm hoping they heal up ok. I love to have them and hope they do well. It's great to read all of the advice on here from all of you who have had chickens for much longer!
