Hi! My name is Jennifer and I am brand new to the chicken world! We are in the early stages of starting our little chicken family. I ordered our chicks which will arrive in May. My husband is drawing the plans and starting to build our coop. We are raising chickens for eggs. My nephew raises hens and my daughter in law did, so we have received some advise, but I welcome any advise anyone has to offer!
If you have questions, just ask but one thing I will offer is do NOT add a HEAT source! we did with out very first batch of chickens and it actually caused frost bite on our rooster’s comb! Adding heat in winter raises humidity and therefore can cause frost bite. The only thing we did do was use a heated galvanized base for our galvanized water container. Welcome to an expensive yet enjoyable hobby 🤪
