You might want to build that coop a little bigger... I don't know how big your lot is, but mine is 10,0019 sq feet, and Chuck up at Animal Control told me I am zoned for 300 chickens, of which thirteen can be roosters... the point being, if your lot is over 10k feet, you can go NUTS with the chickens and it is okay! Feel free to PM me if you need some help from someone local.

LMAO!!! I'm on half an acre. No...noooo! I'm going to remain sane and not have 300 chickens!!
I got my first chicken today. I would love to know what kind of mix she is. She's a pullet that a local lady sold me. She's got feathered feet and is about 4-5 months old. I was thinking - hmmm...my friend wants me to adopt her two chickens, I would like some buff orpingtons, wyandottes, easter eggers...that's like 8 chickens already!! ...and I started out only wanting 1!! That "one" chicken quickly became two when I realized that she may need company...which became more when I saw all the cool chickens out there...but no...no...I'll set the limit at 10 for now...and try to stick with 3...
...wait...seriously? 10,000 square feet = 300 chickens/13 rooster?
...so I'm on 21,780 square feet (0.5 acre) = 653.4 chickens/28.314 roosters? did I do that right? wow.....
Thank you for the offer!! I most definitely will need help some time!!!
