Hi my name is Mandee and i am new as of last year to raising chickens. Started off with RIR and now have added silkies to the mix.

My new additions are Smokey

and my babies which i haven't named yet since i don't know their sex

Trying to find a a blue silkie hen to go with smokey. I want to raise them for pets. Any advice on raising silkies would be appreciated since i am newbie.

As far as I know, silkies aren't that much different from other chickens, unless you are showing them, which it sounds like you aren't interested in. I think show birds have to be bathed...

If all goes well i may get into showing them. But first i have to have success with breeding them and learning their standards which will take me a litte while.
 
Thanks I think I am gonna need it. Don't have the connections yet to find one and all local internet sources have not panned out.
