Hey Chad! Welcome to Back Yard Chickens! Great pictures of your beautiful birds!

Thank you so much for your service on behalf of us all! I have a special gratitude for what you are doing. One son just finished his service as an Army Ranger in May. The next is still in as a Green Beret. Their few brief descriptions have given me a new appreciation for all of you who have volunteered. Thank you again.

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR SUCH A WARM WELCOME and YOUR SUPPORT! It has started to cool down a lot here in Afghanistan - definitely feels like fall here maxing out at 95F vs 130F during the summer months!

I REALLY APPRECIATE all the photos you've shared of your birds! I love seeing other peoples birds, especially when they have the same breed as mine. I am an addict: I had to snap a few shots with my camera phone of my guys and their funny antics to keep me sane while out here.

Here's Bowie looking rather puzzled with Ora, my green egg-laying Ameraucana

Gallo is just the biggest puff ball! I took this during "April Showers" so he's a bit wet. Can't wait to see 'em all and how much they've feathered out!

Eggcited to starting picking everyone's brain out there about incubating humidity and egg cartons.

Thank you so much for this link! It will definitely make it easier when I have specific questions about our area in terms of egg productivity; incubating methods; and feed stores!

I keep on hearing Silkies make great brooders - so I sure will want to put a few eggs underneath them once I get home and see their hatch rate vs. the 1588 Hovabator. It'll be Nov, so I just hope they're not molting at that point. Anytime you wanna talk about Silkies or birds, drop me a line, I've had LOTS of time to do research.

p.s. The gun may look "awesome" but please let him know to stay away from them. I wish I never had to carry one around with me everywhere I go. And I hope and pray everyday that I NEVER have to use it! Playing with my chickens or sitting on the couch with my Silkie (wearing his diaper) is A LOT MORE FUN!
