Thanks for the helpful information! Actually, my daughter has 2 Ameracauna chicks (about 4 weeks old), and she thought she would give me one and she would keep the other one and integrate ito into her existing flock of 3. But what I hear you saying is that we should keep them together and integrate them into one or the other's existing flock. Is this correct?

The adopted Golden Lakenvelder just slept under our picnic table and chairs that we kept on our back porch I believe during the winter. She was pretty wild, and I never could find out where she was roosting at night. Our winters in the Willamette Valley are pretty wet and mild, so she just had to find a spot where she could stay dry and warm. Since our pellet stove vented out the back side of our house where the back porch is, and we have a mini worm bin on the back porch, she probably thought she hit pay dirt and cozied up there all winter. She is very cute!
