I have been on BYC for sometime now (almost a year) learning a lot from the forums. So first of all 'thank you' to all who contribute responses to the threads. I finally registered 
. Being new to keeping chickens, I'm always hungry to learn more. I live in southern California in a suburban area and have 2 backyard chickens. One is a buff orpington and the other is a black australorp, both are a year old. They have been laying now for about 6-8 months. They have a coop in the backyard and free range during the day.
