New member from SW PA

Hi I'm MaryAnn. I got my first chickens today and am so excited to finally have them. My hubby and I have been working on our coop on the weekends and it is finally done. I picked 4 adorable hens about 3-4 months old. The coop is in a dog run on the side of our house. They seemed to do good for their first day with plenty of dirt and room to walk around but now that they are in the coop (I had to catch them and put them in) they are acting scared and jumpy. Hopefully they will realize that if they walk up their ramp there is a nice cozy area to perch and sleep. Do you think they will figure this out? Also I hope my two old dogs calm down, they have never seen chickens before. I am in sunny S. California and it was really hot today.
