I've been raising chickens off & on for over 30 years. My Aunt & Uncle had a commercial poultry farm in Nueces county for many years and I guess that is where my fascination with all things poultry comes from. This is a list of my current bird/animal population - We have one goat, one Great Pyrenees LGD, 6 six cats, 3 dogs, 7+ pigeons (soon to be more!), 14 ducks (7Muscovy & 7 Runner/Swedish mix ducklings), 5 Bourbon Red turkeys & two mixed breed turkeys, one pair of Silkies, one blue 1/2 Silkie/12 Cochin rooster, one pair of Black Copper Marans, 10 Pied Guinea chicks, 3 Peachicks, 2 baby BBR turkeys and the rest of the flock is made up of Easter-eggers, Frizzled Cochins (standard project), various standard Cochins, Cornish game hens and one Mille Fleur rooster.
I like to sew, quilt, I have Lots of plants, I enjoy genealogy, and I make soap! We have recently moved to Uvalde County where my husband's family has had property for over 100 years. Last August we began renovating & updating the house. It had to be completely rewired, replumbed and had to be insulated and repainted. We still need to do the painting but the house turned out very nice and I think his forebears would be pleased with what we did. We tried to keep the original feel of the house and I think we were fairly successful.
I am originally from San Antonio and while I grew up in the city I have always preferred visiting the family that lived in the country! I have two grown sons and my DH and I will celebrate our 38th anniversary this August.
Well that's a little about me and mine.
