Greetings folks. This is a great forum. The Mrs. and I have been browsing for awhile. We currently have two RIR chicks that are a week old. It is so cool seeing them grow on a daily basis. We can't wait until they move into the coop and start producing eggs. Thanks again for all of the pictures and information. This newbie sure appreciates it.

Thank you for the welcomes. The youngsters are growing bigger by the minute. Tomorrow we're adding two Frizzles (I hope that is the correct term) to our little flock. They are approximately one month old, whereas our Reds are just over a week old. We hope they'll get along with minimal issues at this young age. We haven't laid eyes on them yet, but I'm told they are the Polish ones.

One week and one month can be quite a difference in age for chicks. I would be carefull if you add them together. You will need to watch the older ones don't pic on the younger ones. You maybe better seperating your brooder with wire so they can see each other but not harm each other untill they are aquainted and your week olds are a little bigger. Good luck with your polish frizzle they are by far my most favourite breed. Here are some of mine, past and present ~

Your Frizzles are beautiful.
So the folks that we were getting the additional chickens from only had two Frizzles, and decided to keep them. Instead we got two that are black and have feathers on their legs and feet. We're told they are three weeks old. The new chicks are a little bigger, but that didn't stop one of the RIR chicks from going right up and giving them what for. Other than that, they seem to be doing fine together so far.
Additionally, we think one of our Reds is having a problem relieving herself. My wife will be giving her the warm soak here soon. Sure hope she will be ok.
