I have referenced the site many times. Thank you all for your insight and help, as it was so valuable when we got started 2 years ago. And even this past week in saving a Sebright chick that was very weak, having had it's leg caught in a store brooder.

We brought home our first flock of chicks in the spring of 2012. They were a mix of 13 pullet chicks, including 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 White Rocks, 2 Barred Rocks and 7 Ameraucanas (probably Easter Eggers really). The next year we brought home 14 pullet chicks, including 7 Ameraucanas, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Barred Rocks and 3 Rhode Island Reds. We repurposed a storage shed/barn into two chicken coops. In the middle lives their protector, a Pyrenees.

This spring we have plans to move one or both of the older flocks to a large coop in our pasture, ranging with the goats and our other Pyrenees. The original coops, with runs, will be for our 14 yo daughter's chick chain pullets and the 2nd coop with enclosed run will be for her Silver Laced Wyandotte (5 hens and a rooster) This will be our first experience with a rooster and fertilized eggs. Also I picked up some straight run Silver Sebrights and a Splash Silkie chick. So excited to have some 'mini' chicks, just hope they are not all roosters! LOL.
