This site is wonderful. I've visited many times to research questions over the last year as I started my own chicken habit--and YES, it is an addiction, to my husband's chagrin. I keep telling him there are much WORSE addictions I could have ;-)
Right now I have one white leghorn, two sex-link hybrids (Golden Reds?) three barred rocks and as of yesterday, two young aracauna pullets. I suspect I'll need to expand "operations" soon. I am very attracted to the idea of preserving some of the rare and critical breeds in the near future.
Chickens manage to peck their way into many aspects of my life. At the school where I'm a counselor, we hatch chickens as a classroom project. At home, I have a side business--a new publishing company of mainly children's books (to do with agriculture and ecology as much as possible) I named "Radiant Hen Publishing". Yeah, I'm addicted!
