Hi All!
Very excited to glean info from the "eggsperts".... (lol).
We are just now looking into getting back yard chickens & trying to navigate through the laws of our cities. We may have found a "loophole" that will allow us to start our flock, but we are doing due diligence to make sure our bases are covered.
I did post a thread in the Local Chicken Laws & Ordinances section, so if any of you have experience or advice we'd appreciate it. The major city we live in doesn't allow back yard chickens. But we just found out that our specific neighborhood is part of a CDP and unincorporated.
By my research this means we should be able to have chickens, based on the language of the city law. But of course, we realize we may come up against opposition from the city.
If you have experience in this area... please head over to my post & chime in! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/943593/understanding-the-law-cdp-census-designated-place
Can't wait to dig through the forums & learn more. We are looking to have about 3-4 chickens, most likely a mixed flock, for egg laying purposes. And of course, the kids want to love on them as pets.
We are on just under 1/2 an acre.
