Hi, I'm a new member, thought I'd introduce myself and fill out the little questionnaire.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Ok, I'll try to make this short. I am very new to chickens and the bird world, but have some property and would like to eventually get some chickens. But chickens aren't why I joined BYC. I live in a neighborhood that has many peafowl and they roam freely. Mostly everyone likes them and they hang out on my property often. A bit ago, we found a mother peahen nesting on a bunch of eggs, 4 hatched and three did not, once the 4 hatched she left the nest for some tall grasses to lay on the newly hatched chicks, we tried to save the three but only one survived and hatched. I have taken on the role of mama though it has been difficult as I had no idea what I would be getting myself into. But this community has helped me a great deal, so I thought it best to join and learn from the amazing people here.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Just the one peachick for now.

(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? So far, raising the one peachick has been both scary and rewarding. It is very loving and affectionate and it is amazing to watch it grow and learn.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Horseback riding, I have a love of animals and gardening. A good book and a rainstorm.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I'm 30 and I work from home, so this makes taking care of a peachick much easier, and I have a Grey Main coon mix cat named Pumpkin.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D Honestly, I just was scouring the net on peafowl and what to do with this tiny chick once it hatched and more often than not, BYC came up.
